Not actually sad unlike sharingan cuz that's what it's made for. It was shown that Himawari still can't control how to activate her Byakugan, but activates only when she gets angry or desparate for now. There are different ways for main characters to pop off their hidden powers aside from sadness.

He was. You have to remember that it wasn't till he was twelve years old that he started to make friends. People in the academy didn't even like him at first. The parents pulled potential friends away from Naruto if they ever tried to play with him. His childhood was basically non-existent. He trained from the age of 6, attempted to graduate three times, and then the third at twelve. He finally passed only because of the first bond he made. It wasn't till he worked as a shinobi that he started to grow other bonds.

Remember, the time we mostly witnessed really doesn't count as his childhood. We might consider a twelve year old a kid in our world but in the shinobi world it's old enough to go out, do missions, and fight for your country. I don't think Naruto considers the time when he was a ninja his childhood and that is alright imo.

The way Naruto handled everything so calmly was really assuring. No matter how many times the matter comes up about Naruto's childhood, it's painful.
Naruto's small talk with Boruto and Kawaki saying sorry and everything I should say the episode was heartwarming in its own way. The new ed is sweet too.

While Kawaki is a bit different than my foster kids, and I was a single parent with no kids of my own, but I'm seeing a lot of parallels. Kawaki is good kid, I got triggered by Boruto saying "if you want to live here", Kawaki had understandable reaction to that, but he's a good kid.

Naruto seems to be really good foster parent here even though dirtbag parent, Boruto will survive. Glad all 5 Kage are understanding. 2 from being Jinchuriki and 1 from being close to Jinchuriki. Other 2 just agree without that connection. Locking up is only for dangerous people that want to be dangerous, or no chance of controlling. Naruto was mostly under control and could be part of society, Kawaki is also under control and appears to be good person, so should be able to be part of society. Confining might keep the danger locked up, but now the person you confined could have malice.

Kawaki joining Team 7 would be nice.
